hey guys, just bought a 2008 Cobalt Blue SE Dyna. I have alot of vibration in the handle bars. just rode my brothers 2003 Duece and the handlebars do not vibrate at all. is there a big difference between softail and dyna. \\; i do no about the B motor but i would have thought that the rubber mounting on dyna would have helped. i like the looks of my dyna vs the softail, the inverted front end sets it off. just need some suggestions on tamming SOME of the vibration. would like tio here from an 08 dyna owner.
Man I have your identical bike, however I don't have the basis for comparison that you do. \\; My bike shakes like the devil too. \\; At idle on the kickstand sometimes I get worried that it might actually fall over from all the vibration haha. \\; Anyway I am not sure if you have a problem or not, just rest assured that I have the same bike and mine shakes badly too. \\; I think it has more to do with Harley stuffing their largest engine ever into one of their smaller bikes by comparison. \\; Anyway good luck! \\;
I have the 2007 FXDSE, my handlebars seem to shake some, but nowhere near as much as my coworkers old panhead, the only problem that I really had was the mirrors shook so bad at speed in order to see anything out of them I would have to pull in the clutch, I replaced the stock mirrors witha set of Arlin Ness and no more problems. On a side note, I cn see my front tire shaking as I am at low speed such as turning around in the yard.
My 2008 FXDSE2 shakes also...thought I might need wrist replacements after my first 50 mile ride :-) \\; \\; I drove it to my HD Dealer and they said it is not counter-balanced like my 2007 Softail Heritage and that the engine is just rubber mounted to the frame but the vibration should lessen at higher RPMs...it does. \\; I just sold my 2005 Sportster (last year they used carburator) and I could not even use the mirrors it vibrated so much so the FXDSE2 is a whole lot less. \\; I am still in my break-in period so I have not taken it above 4,000 yet...well maybe once when that plastic scoot tried to go by me...Vibration seems to lessen when the RPMs are above 2200-2300.
 \\;
I use a THROTTLE GLIDER Cruise Control Assist (find on Ebay) which allows me to greatly lessen my hand pressure on \\;the handlebar \\;grip\\; also reduces the arm fatigue over long rides. \\; This alone has made the vibration at low RPM's no longer a problem. \\; Obviously, rides through towns and city red lights will be the worst for the vibration. \\; \\; I use my brake more than I have in the past, eliminating the low RPMs through all the gears. \\;Knowing the reason has helped me out. Let us know if any of this helps.
Harley has made an excellent bike here. They put the biggest motor in the smallest frame. the motor mounts are the same for the 96 inch motors and for the 110 inch motors. Your gonna have to deal with the vibration. But at least you have a sick bike!
