I just picked up my CVO Ultra Classic. First touring bike I've been on. I'm 5'-10" tall and only my tip toes reach the ground. Much to much weight to handle on your toes. Has anybody had any experience with lowering kits? I bought this bike for the smooth ride and don't want to sacrifice it?

I'm very surprised at how quiet she sounds. Thought it would have been much louder. Will have to do something about that as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated??

Whatever you do, I would suggest you do both the front & the rear:

Profile Low Touring Front Lowering Kit (lowers 1")

Profile Low Touring Shocks (lowers 1")

By doing both front & rear, you maintain the OEM rake/trail & suspension design within reasonable tolerance.

There are 3rd party options as well; the above are just a suggestion based on my limited knowledge & expertise.

Race tech lowering kit in the front, and air ride in the back, let me know if I can help.

My 09 SE Roadglide comes OEM with the low profile Kit front and rear, It is very choppy on uneven surfaces and although it handles nicely and the 26 in seat height is nice the ride on your Ultra is far superior.

Koala's advice is a good way to go if you want to retain original HD configurations, it works real well. I have put the Progressive lowering kits in the front and 440's in the back on a couple of the guys 07 and 08 Baggers, and it is a real nice ride with about 1" lower height....handling is second to none, just another option for you to consider. Both work good. You definately want to get your feet flat on the ground. You may want to consider a different seat well.

Enjoy your new ride,

I have been through the same story - HD Low Profile front and rear. It was horrible. Recently, I installed Race Tech lowering springs up front, .95 for my weight, with no emulators, just the springs they were $109. On the rear I installed 12" Progressive 440's. Bike handles and rides terrifiic. So much better! The only thing I do not like is that whenever you want to make rear spring adjustment, the bags must come off.

I, too, have an '09 FLHTCUSE45 (Autumn Haze). I am not too thrilled with the comfort level of the seat. I would love to hear how you feel about it.

HarLee With my bad back coming off an 05 deluxe, the seat suits me fine. Just ordered the HD front and rear lowering kit. Hope I'm not dissappointed
