Anyone using Harley premium adjustable touring shocks? CVO shocks
At some point in time I'd like to upgrade the rear suspension on my 09 Street Glide. Those with CVOs, how do you like the premium adjustable shocks that come stock? I've read tons of reviews in the forums here but their all for the big guys...Progressive, Ohlin or JRI.
I don't have the HD Premium Shocks on my bike so I don't have an opinion ,, others do . Perform a search in SE forum and you will get some interesting comments concerning them . Good luck .
I think that there was a thread on the HD adjustable shocks within the last week or so. I didn't try to find it, but my recollection is the comparison was that there was a significant improvement over the stock air shocks. I can tell you from first hand experience since I went from a 2009 SG to a 2012 CVO SG. There is a big difference in comfort level and I don't have to play around with pumping them up. With that being said, if I still had the 09, I would not put the premium shocks on. The differences between the two is not worth the cost of the upgrade to me. But that's just me...others may differ.
Speaking from experience, the Premium Ride shocks are MUCH better than the stock air shocks. Then again, the Ohlin's are MUCH better than the Premium Ride shocks. I am running the Ohlin's now and feel they are worth it. I also felt that the Premium Ride shocks were worth the money over the stock air shocks. I guess that it all depends on budget. I will say this, the Premium Ride shocks are a bit stiff if you are a lighter rider. I had mine adjusted as light as possible and still felt that they were stiff. Mine were the 12" shocks. Not sure if the 13" shocks would be a better ride over the 12" versions.
I had a 09 FLHX with the air shocks and traded it for my current bike the 12 CVO FLHXSE3. First thing I noticed was a much improved ride over the previous bike.

My '12 CVO Road Glide came with the adjustable shocks. I am fairly light at 170# and they were just too stiff at their lowest setting. I put the Ohlins on and it was night and day difference. Lots of $$$ but now after 10K miles on them, they are worth it.
Just like Jswerve, I had an 09 FLHTC and traded it for a 12 FLTRXSE with the premium shocks. The difference is night and day between the air shocks and the coil over on the RG.

Can't speak about the difference as the 12 CVO SG is my first bagger but I agree with what some others have said, Ohlins are a major improvement over stock
I had an 08 Streetglide with air shocks and they were terrible. Currently have a 12 FLHXSE3 which had the Premium HD's. I wasn't crazy about them, so I called Howard with Motorcycle Metal to buy some Ohlins. Howard talked me into 13" JRI's, which I can't tell any difference between them and stock. My advice, buy Ohlins or Bitubos
