Default security system

I have an 08 S/E road king. my key fob will not deactivate security system.
I replaced the battery in fob w/ no success. The problem started after my battery died in my bike. Is there a reset button or something else ???
Do I need to go to a dealer and spend a $100.00 or whatever. I can deactivate it with the code, but that is a hassle.

I am far from a "fob expert" but here are a few things to try...

1. Strong electromagnetic interference in the area you have parked.
a. Verify you have not placed your fob in metal enclosure, or within 3 in. of other electronic devices.
b. Place fob on the vehicle seat and turn the ignition key ON. After the system disarms, the fob can be placed back in its carrying location.
c. Try moving the motorcycle approximately 15 feet (4.57 m) away from the current parking spot.
2. The fob battery is dead - use PIN to disarm the vehicle, and replace fob battery.
3. Fob is damaged - Use PIN to disarm the vehicle. Replace the fob.
4. Rare, but the security antenna got damaged?

When you turn on the ignition what is the red key symbol doing on the instrument panel? How about the turn signals? Do they flash in unison or flash alternating from one side to the other?

I am sure there are others on the forum with better answers.

Also...might want to put this up in the touring forum...it gets a lot more play than the CVO forum does.

Default FOBs affected by RF waves.

I live it Toronto and there are are all kinds of 'pockets' in the city where my fob won't work....because of the CN tower its said...and near the waterfront.

Usually I have to walk away and the retry ...or move my bike to another spot . Apparently its the Radio Frequency in the area that disrupts them.
