Will be interesting to see if the new water cooled heads will really cool the 110" down. Until then my '08 stays with me.
I switched from a 08 FLHT to the 10 FLHXSE. On the 10 I have V&H Power Dual headers. It is cooler than my my 08 was.

Interesting. I have Bub 7's, they helped a lot. Normally it is tolerable, but I've gotten stuck in NYC/Long Island and DC traffic several times and got so hot that I lost my clutch because the fluid overheated. I then limp to the side of the road until the bike cools enough to get my clutch again.
Oh, would never buy Bub 7's again - the chrome on the tips are crap and fell off after about 2 years. They want an arm and a leg for new ones.
exhaust alone won't cool these down. You need a tuner (PC-V, etc) and a proper dynotune (downloaded maps are often close, but not perfect). For those in really hot areas should consider a parade/cooling fan. Jims makes a nice unit that combines a fan with a horn.
If you are referring to me - been there/done that except for the cooling fan. More air out means more air in means lean mixture unless you fix it. I've got a good tune, still hot.
Quite thankful we snagged our 2013 CVO Road King two weeks ago at a year-end close-out price, well below the MSRP of the 2014 CVO Road King.
More details in my personal blog, but what grabbed my imagination and interest with the 2013 CVO Road King is no longer captured in the 2014 edition. That we were able to get a killer deal made it all that much better, particularly in light of the changes on the 2014 model.
Pros for 2014:
- The new bags look to be an improvement relative to volume, ease of use, etc.
- The new steering head / forks should be of benefit, just not thrilled with the powdercoat vs. chrome.
- Linked brakes are a big plus; had those on my '98 CBR1100XX... but without ABS. Good combination!
- Brighter lighting is also huge; I've had to drop $160 to give more punch to my turn signal/running lights.
- Loosing the lowers will be a plus for RK afficianados and folks who were bothered by the loss of airflow.
- $1,500 MSRP price point drop helps with affordability, but the take-aways were worth a lot more than $1,500.
Cons for 2014:
- Not feeling the love for the color selections and graphics that I did for all three of last year's options.
- Definitely not feeling much love for the the switch to blacked-out trim on the engine and bars; smacks of cost-cutting similar to what was done with the new Wide Glides.
- The rear facia / tail light treatment is truly a WTF; I can't find a tie-in with any thing else on the bike.
- No rear passenger backrest is a hit to the package value only because it was included in the 2013.
- The loss of the lowers is huge to me; it's one of the things that made the 2013 FLHRSE5 attractive to me.
- The audio system wasn't something I cared about on the 2013 until we fired it up; now it's a big plus: love it.
