Default 2010 SE SG rear wheel

As you know the 2010 SE SG comes with a 180 55 18" rear wheel. You are limited to tire mfg and you have a low profile tire. Low profile tires are not right.
Has anybody changed the 18" rear wheel to a 16" rear wheel

Th measurements are

180 55 18 25.9" high

180 65 16 25.83 High

With a 16" rear wheel in a 65 series you can not run a Michelin or whomevers tire.

Why did HD design a 55 series Low profile.
To me its just so you come back to them
Don't like this setup.

I'm running a 16" on my 13 CVO.

I did it for the shorter tire to get my Bad Dad 4 1/2" stretched bags closer to the ground however with my new 6 1/2" stretched deep bags I may go with a taller tire to get the bags off of the pavement.

Have you looked into a 200 for your 18" wheel as opposed to changing out the wheel?

The Progressive 944 UT shocks would of dropped it an an inch.

No what is the problem is the low profile tire on the bike. its a 55 series.
With a 16" wheel he could run anybody's wheel like Michelin's tire.
He also has shorter legs. But wants to keep some ground clearance for the curves.

The 16" tire in the size I showed was suppose to be centimeters shorter than the stock tire.
Because it was a taller profile.

Funny, I swapped the wheels on my FHLTCUSE7 to Agitators specifically so I could run the lower profile tires. The bike handles better with them.

Different strokes, I suppose.

i have run a stock 16 HD rear wheel on my 12 CVO. IT changes the way the bike feels for sure. Seat of the pants dyno makes it feel like it has a bit more pep, kind of like changing from a 32 tooth pulley to a 31 or a 30.

other than that, and the looks vs the 18, it just was not my cup of tea. Better choice of tires is the only upside, I saw.

I did it only to wear out a 16 rear tire i had mounted on a 28 spoke rear wheel. Once the tire was shot, i changed back to the 18.

oh, it did throw the speedo off as well. based on my GPS it was off approx 3 MPH, but since the HD speedo is off by at least that much from the factory before i corrected it in the PV software, if yours is uncorrected it might be spot on I am certain each bike is different. All of mine certainly are.

Good point about the speedometer error. I was all set to re-calibrate when I put the 18s on, but it ended up being dead-nuts on.
