I have an 07 CVO Ultra Classic with a removable Tour Pac (installed by the previous owner). I just got the bike and was wanting to get a detachable backrest for when I remove the Tour Pac. Since the stock amp is mounted under the Tour Pac when the trunk is removed all sound is lost.
I am kicking around weather to get a second stock amp and mount it under the detachable luggage rack/backrest I plan to purchase or to just redo the wiring to move amp to the fairing. Will I have room for the factory amp under a luggage rack? I really do not want to move the amp to my saddle bags if I can help it.
I'm also changing to extended bags and fender as well which will eliminate the fillers between the bags and fender. This will free up the mounting bracket on the saddlebag support for amp attachment instead. I should end up with more clearance from the rear brake rotor than what is pictured in the link though.
Why don't you run one of the small digital amps and mount it in the fairing. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it. Check the audio section out, several guys have mounted it their.
