I'm gonna have to side with OP here, CVO touring bike should come with heated grips..... And my hands were COLD in west TX in March this year - wish I had heated grips.... I guess because my hands gets cold when I'm riding in 40-50 degree tempatures makes me a wimp......

I have a '13 CVO Ultra and as someone pointed out earlier, the heated grips are nice in temps where you can wear a pair of light leather gloves but in cooler/colder temps, the heated gloves are definitely a better way to go.

It's been rather cool here in Michigan for a few days and yesterday a friend and I took a one day trip down to Dayton, OH and back (about 500 miles total) and it was in the mid-to-high 40's when we left at 6:00AM!

I don't mind admitting that I bundled up pretty good and used my heated grips, seat, jacket liner and gloves, along with my leather pants, leather jacket, a leather neck dickey and a full face modular helmet!

Dorky, YES, but I was "toasty warm"!!!

If you ride in cool/cold weather, you need heated gear.

I need the heat on my hands for physical reasons as a result of my service....in the field. Most of you have absolutely no idea what the conditions are like and what they [can] do to you. I was unlucky in that regard---shucky darn the bad luck---I got out of all my service alive and semi in one piece---many didn't.

Some of you trolls just love to assume the worst of everyone but yourself...

Appreciate the recommendations on the heated gloves---haven't ever tried them but I surely will.
I sent Harley an email requesting information on installing heated grips on my 2010 FLHXSE. They sent me the parts list for the Ultra and said they could be installed. As I recall, the parts were about $800 and the dealer told me 4 to six hours to install. I went with the heated gloves "Gerbing" but still wish I had the heated grips. The gloves heated gloves are bulky and unless you wear a jacket liner you have to run a separate set of wires through your jacket. I now carry three sets of gloves when I tour. My normal light weight gloves, a heavier pair when only my hands are cold and then the heated pair when I'm wearing my full set of heated gear. I also wish they had heated grips but ~$1500 was just too much to pay.

Hey good on you buddy. I'm a ***** veteran as well from the UK Army, 28 years service and guess what, I wear Gerbing heated gloves, bloody great bit of kit. No heated grips on my 2014 CVO RK either, but the gloves are better IMHO than any grips.

I thought you had a valid gripe, even before this post. 37K is a lot of money for a bike, and it is pretty reasonable to expect heated grips standard, but definitely as an option.

I am sure Harley, just like car manufacturers, groups certain options with others. Like it is hard to get navigation and a manual transmission sometimes, because they figure budget buyers want manual, and high end want navigation.

So they probably figure serious tourers who ride in cold, also want the tour pack, and not worth the effort to provide as option on Street Glide.

Thanks for your service, although you shouldn't have to provide a resume, just to have a gripe, without getting flamed.

I put more miles on in cold weather than in warm weather. Mainly because it's cold here more months than it's warm and I want to ride as much as I can. I ride anytime of the year as long as it's above 32 or it's been dry for a while so no chance of ice. So I have a fair bit of experience with this. One point I'd like to make. Heated gloves are great and I use them. But they aren't really interchangeable. There are plenty of days I ride with my regular gloves and use the heated grips. In other words, I use them often when I don't need my heated gloves. As the OP mentions, I also have a ton of pain in my hands when they get cold and the heated grips really give me some relief and the ability to keep riding when I might not otherwise be able to. I will say that I couldn't have imagined needing/wanting heated grips when I was younger. Now I wouldn't be able to ride many days without them. Or without taking stronger pain meds. There are a lot of people who would prefer to ride without relying on narcotics if at all possible.

Looks like you didn't do your home work before buying your CVO. Stop your sniveling & man-up.

I am pretty sure the OP is a lot more man than you are. Do you know every option available for your model before you buy your bike?

You may be better off with the heated mitts. I have the heated grips on my 2010 CVO Ultra, they work great......on my bike. Their are quit a few threads about 2010 and other years that had big problems with the heated grips not working, not heating evenly, shorting out. With the mitts, you wont have to take it to a dealer to get them repaired if you have a problem.
Good luck on your ride, and thanks for your service!!!
