IDK 100% ...What reason would there be to space the coil out from the downtube???
Edit; The proper coil bracket is Part#31728-78TA
Guessing the "78TA" part is the newest rendition...It is on a right angle to the seat post mounting holes, butI have never seen it done like the OP.
It's an FXE 1200 frame, doesn't have a horseshoe oiltank and the battery tray and oiltank bolt together without this part.
It's not connected to the rearfender, the coil is already mounted...Jesus wept...I know it came of this bike but I've no idea where it fits....
I had my FXEF down to the bare frame for a "ground up" ( it's been a long time ago now ) and that bracket looks SO familiar but I just can't get the old ( 67th trip around the sun ) memory to function.
I went through a couple hundred of the photos I took of my 75 FXE and do not see anything like it. I also went through the 1971-1984 FX models parts catalog and could find nothing that resembled that part.
that is the bracket you find in FL and FLH from 1965 to when ever i dont remember - before that the round coil was attached to it - but that one gets a standard HD coil / and box cover like a softail has

Pictures are absolutely required...I don't remember that on my '68, but, that was awhile ago..Not used on a '74 FX..as I still have that!
Softail Fatboy or Duece exhaust hanger. I have one on the wall since I run exhaust off a Custom
No...Not if you mean the L'80's - E'90's Softail and FXR exhaust bracket that goes on the Cam cover.
There was a different one on the L'90's softails back farther...but it still only has 3 Holes I believe..
Softail been around a long time...you might want to share a year Model...
