Speedo Drive Re-Location???
If one has a front wheel speedo drive on their early 1980's Shovel and wants to re-locate it to a transmission drive, is there any way to do that?
I've acquired a front end with Profile wheels off a TC88 FLSTC that fits on my rubber mount frame.
The problem is the tab on the speedo drive unit... the hub on the front wheel is too 'tall' and there would be no place to lock this tab in place. The speedo drive unit is the same thickness as the right side wheel spacer.
Is it possible to install the 70's drive gear into the 5-speed FLT trans?

Take a look at the wheel and see if you could drill the indention for the gear drive's tab. If you are far enough away from the bearing /seal it should be fine.
