Won't have tranny out that soon, still have riding plans I want to keep. Maybe in July, but need some idea of cost, my money tree is not in full bloom this year...
Well the bushing in the main drive gear is wiped as expected, two splits in it. New spacer with machined o- ring groove broke right off where machined. Main bearing has little play but getting replaced, main shaft seems to be unscored surprisingly, all gears look as new,ONLY odd thing seen was metal shavings in the bottom of the kicker cover, what I consider big pieces too. They were packed tightly in one low spot with think sludge, did not look like metal until I removed it with a screwdriver to the rag. No evidence of where it came from as everything inside looks great. I'm thinking it's been there from a previous repair and they didn't clean the cavity out.
Time to order some parts....$$$$$
Could be the pictures but I'm seeing some ripple on the mainshaft, if you can run a fingernail across and feel it it's on it's way out. Bushing looks like it was seated too deep in the drive gear so somebody could stuff 2 seals in there, never works well. Look at those shift forks also , pics too fuzzy but looks they need attention also.
Yeah, main drive gear is toast, replacing along with a new front belt pulley, worn also. Only debris found was under kicker cover, all looks good though, nothing missing big chunks as I found, think they are previous. Going to check run out on main shaft, probably replace it.
Quick update, half the parts came in, half on back order. The Andrews drive gear came with installed bushing and o-ring, sized to fit the Andrews main shaft that also came in. Now this is quality stuff here, I'm happy. Main bearing installed with a bearing installation tool I made to mimic the$54 Jim's tool. Worked perfectly.
Just waiting on the rest of my parts.......
