1977 FX , 88' , new rebuild = new problem
i noticed that when put on the kick stand there is oil leaking onto the clutch plates unless i stick a 4X4 under the kickstand, a couple of people have told me that is was some kind of main seal needs replaced, does this sound right and how hard is it to do? i do have the mech manual
There is a seal around the clutch pushrod that can allow oil to leak from the tranny into the primary.
You haven't said what type of primary you're running. There is a seal behind the tranny sprocket that is a known leaker on 4 speed trannies. Unusual for it to get to the clutch, though. It'd have to leak through the inner primary seal to get into the primary. usually it just leaks onto the ground.
clutch hub nut seal......... pull the old out and replace it with 2 new ones ( they will both fit) and DON'T FORGET to lube the new seals with grease, oil or what ever you please, just lube them (inside only!)
