Put new clutch in 1980 shovelhead flt. Belt drive. Clutch cable has to much free play. Can't seem to adjust cable right. Any ideas

Sounds like the screw on the clutch pressure plate isn't adjusted right.

 

It was the adjustment screw. Guy I got bike from had put a washer on screw for some reason not sure why so would not adjust. Took the washer off after many hours of scratching muy head and it works great now.
