Default Carb Support Bracket

In another thread there was reference to adding a carb support bracket to keep the carb in place.

The '75 SuperGlide that my brother gave to me just before he passed has the Bendix carb but no support bracket. Am I at risk of the carb falling off at a very inconvenient place and time?

Yes and no. It may not fall of but it will eventually drop down and give you air leak problems.
Stock 75 with Bendix carb had a support bracket that looked like this...

One moutning point is on the underside of the front head; the other attaches to the back of the carb backing plate.

An S&S type bracket will be the easiest to find/fabricate.

Thanks gents for the education - I'll start looking for a brace to avoid issues.

No - you need to fab a flat metal from the engine center bolt

Well this brought back an old memory. Was out riding with the old man and his carb fell off (75 FLH). He had to take my sporty back to the house to get the trailer. So yes, the carb will fall off.

I wonder if the S&S type bracket doesn't attach at the engine center bolt.

I remember having an S&S bracket that attached to the bottom of the rockerbox and the air cleaner backing plate.

Of all things I've fabricated for my bikes, this has to be the simplest. It can be done with a ruler, a hacksaw and a hand drill. Add a file if you want to be fancy.
