In another thread there was reference to adding a carb support bracket to keep the carb in place.
The '75 SuperGlide that my brother gave to me just before he passed has the Bendix carb but no support bracket. Am I at risk of the carb falling off at a very inconvenient place and time?
Yes and no. It may not fall of but it will eventually drop down and give you air leak problems.
Stock 75 with Bendix carb had a support bracket that looked like this...
One moutning point is on the underside of the front head; the other attaches to the back of the carb backing plate.
Well this brought back an old memory. Was out riding with the old man and his carb fell off (75 FLH). He had to take my sporty back to the house to get the trailer. So yes, the carb will fall off.
Of all things I've fabricated for my bikes, this has to be the simplest. It can be done with a ruler, a hacksaw and a hand drill. Add a file if you want to be fancy.
