For the 22 tooth motor sprocket you could have just used the alternate mounting points on the tensor and used the stock chain. It tells how in the manual.
Don't have the original tensioner setup, using a Hayden M6.
Is the wiring harness stock? If it is there is no circuit breaker off the + side of the battery, just a "fusible" wire. They started using a circuit breaker in 1978 for FX models. Definitely worth updating.

My 71 FX has a circuit breaker. 100% stock. They were mounted under the oil tank.

There wasn't even a fusible link there because it was rewired, 30amp breaker going in this time. The Cycle Electrics stator kit instructions strongly recommended it.
Thanks for the input
I made a page it has some good videos especially one on how to check your charging system which it sounds like you have a problem with and as mentioned earlier upgrade to the 32 amp with enclosed magnets

Thanks there's alot of good info there.
I didn't trust the readings when ohm test was done maybe it was my skill level with the multimeter, decided it was best to upgrade to the Cycle Electric 3 phase kit either way. Now just waiting for a few parts to arrive to tie up some loose ends and it should be back up and running.

I won't allow these manuals to be advertised on the HD Forums. the link has been edited out.
I take it you have written permission to publish those manuals ? Harley Davidson has some VERY strict rules for hacked property. Also a nice bank of lawyers to find out just how deep your pockets really are.

Can't and will not speak to your 71 FX (never owned one) but I owned a "stock" 1975 FXE. There are 3 circuit breakers that are attached to the rear fender behind the oil bag. They have zero/nothing to do with the circuit breaker coming off the + side off ther battery. There was no breaker on the + side of the battery in 1975 FXE models. It was just a fusible wire that was designed to "melt" (22 ga wire) in case of a short in the system so you did not fry the entire system.

True and I have seen Harley come after people selling stickers, jewelry and web sites for illegally using their name. Like your page that I'm pretty sure you don't have written permission to use their name either. The difference is unlike yall I'm not making any profit, my info is free my site is add free. Harley lawyers go after the ones profiting from illegal use of their name. You're more likely to get shut down over copyright infringement than me. this is really the pot calling the kettle black I won't put the manuals up any more
