I bought an RK O-ring chain from sippers and can't believe how it stretched. So much (adjust 6 times in 2500 miles) that it wore into the upper chain guard on my Baker Drivetrain SBD primary belt drive. I wish there was a chain out there that can live up to it's claim..... I believe the chain I have was rated for 10,600 lbs...
Higher end Tsubaki o-ring and we're talking in the $200 range. RK & Diamond just did not last when I ran chains.

I have heard of those. Are they really up to their name and strength?
I believe they are, when I ran chains I'd go through up to 3 a year with a set of sprockets and not the cheap imported ones. Tsubaki chain ( high end one ) I've gotten over 20K out of. Only thing I could run on my old 88" and last any length of time.
Well, in a weird sort of way I guess everybody's right.
Spoke to a really nice lady at diamond chain company today who's hubby has a Harley, and she set me straight on everything.
Dimond does ownfactories overseas where they manufacture a cheaper grade of chain. Some of those chains are stamped with the diamond logo and some are not. Those chains are marketed under Diamond sapphire. And most of those are made in India.
Dimond also has a factory in Indianapolis Indiana where they manufacture chain right here in the good old United States of America. Those are hi grade chains and she said their O-ring chain is the best out there.
I'm generally found you get what you pay for.

I just bought a diamond primary to replace the diamond primary that had a few pins sheared down when comp nut backed out and allowed everything to wobble-those pins dug some seriously impressive gouges out of my rotor before wearing down to the link plates. It's an '82 FXRS Shovel and the chain had only stretched just over an 1/8inch since 1998 and I figured can't go wrong with another. Until I read this thread. If you remember what she meant, that'd be great.

Primary chains you get what you get, it's the way they are made and there's only a few sources. Only thing you can look at is the side link plates, if the new chain has a nice fat solid oval shape your good to go, the side links are shaped like a figure 8 it's a cheapy.

Our Tsubaki [No O-ring] chains on the Race bikes do Not have Any "Waist", on the Plates... Quite a Stout Chain...
BTW as the Lady says above... Saphire is the Brand on Imported "diamond" chains... it is Right on the Box..
What is on the Chain itself?? is of No Consequence.
I just want to point out that there are some very unscrupulous sellers online (eBay, Amazon, Craiglist, etc) who are not above switching a cheap Diamond marked import chain into a good looking USA made high dollar Diamond chain box. I think that is bad business on Diamond's part to let them mark the low end chain with their logo. This really kind of P'O.'s me! I don't mind paying a bit more for quality, but hate being cheated. Here is a saying that I take to heart:
If you pay too much for a good item, you are out a little money. If you pay too little for something of low quality, you may be out everything as the item may not work at all.
I gave up on Diamond chains decades ago, no matter what it was they never lasted and wore very quickly. They'll do fair on a small lighter bike like a piglet or limey but HD's just chewed them up too quick.
