Sorry I'm sure everybody has heard this question so many times my uncle passed away and left me what it said is a 78 Lowrider the Vin begins with two a and ends with H8. I'm trying to determine if it is a 78 or 78 1/2 shovel head FXS or FXE it has an electronic start and a kickstart he did upgrade the carburetor and heads to S and S. but I have so many people giving me different answers. I have also had people tell me that there is no such thing as a FXE 78 shovel head low rider and that it's actually a super glide if anybody has an answer please let me now.
I do know that when I went to the Harley dealership near me when they ordered me a 78 not 78 1/2 but I 70 8FXS Lowrider battery it was too small and the cover was too small for my bike when the guy supposedly ordered me a 70 8FXE battery and cover it fit perfect.
the bike is almost 40 years old - and most people have an idea about what they want to change on the bike they own soooo - a picture of the machine and the area you are looking at - some own original pieces that have not been changed and if your is or is not help is in the visual
Serial number 60000 and above are 78 1/2. EXAMPLE 2F61311H8 is 78 1/2.

^^^ Welp we gots Pictures now!!!
FXS LowRider... slightly modified cosmetically.. both the 2F and the Visuals confirm..
What was the question again???
The reason people put you onto FXE documentation is because most of the Differences are Purely Cosmetic...
Batteries???? I use the Very Same Battery in about every bike on the Farm... what I call the YB16 SuperGlide Battery... I even use it on the FLH!!!
The Numbers are different for AGM... but... Same battery..
I do Not believe there is a such thing as a 1970 FXE... but I'm too lazy to look... Sounds like ya got an FX [No E and No S] battery... Kick only
