Part number for mine in the book shows as 32399-84 Used obn Sportys and FLT models from 80-84 (except for 83 Sporty).
Went looking for a replacement and remebered I had one that came with the bike.. It is marked #32412-83. Absolutely OEM and still in boxed, never used.
Started looking in the flea and there is a seller who states these are interchangeable (he has a couple for sale).
Mine was used on 80-84 Sportys, FLH/T models (except for 83 Sportys). So is the one I mentioned (32412-83) a equal replacement for mine?
Most likely it will be fine.. Harley has been interchanging the ignition between the Sportster and other models for years. The biggest difference would be the rate of timing advance. The lighter Sportsters ignition curve came on faster than the heavier FLH,. The voes switch even had a difference in "HG" compared to the FLH. I believe I heard at one time that riders were using the ignition module of the sportsters to help to improve performance..

Actually... ... users have Known for a very long time that the Sportster Ignition module will give a More Aggressive advance curve and a higher Rev limit, than a Big Twin "box". The MoCo did Not interchange those between Sportster and Big Twin that I have Ever seen... And I may have seen a Quite a few... especially when we had a Shop!!!
Some savy dealerships [One I know certainly in west Louisiana] Knew this also BTW..
The Sportster Box does Not automatically Improve performance... If you get "Spark Knock" ya prolly should Change back to a Box intended for a Heavy Bike... or maybe higher Compression. Any Number of "Things".

Yea, I didn't mean the MOCO my bad on that one... AND..... I didn't intend to lead others to believe that it automatically improves performance alone "BUT... it was used on modified builds to help improve performance and did work very well... Then came programable ignitions.....

Works well for What I wanna Do!!!
Tried one in a Bagger... not a very good idea really... went back to ???? I forget, Big Twin anyways!!!
If It might be any help , I have a '80 FLT and a "81 Sportster and have replaced the ign mod on both with the aftermarket ULTIMA #53-644 and they work great
I just looked in the instructions and it says -- also replaces '83 and later and EVO motors

ULTIMA ( aftermarket ) replaces "80 on up
Just Not a name I am gonna go with... and Yes I heard the "thought" that they really are DynaTech... I'll pay more for the real thing as I detest Chiwanese Crap!!!
