Default pressure in oil tanks

where do the pressure in my oil tank come from? is it the oil pump?
I have a stock oil tank and the lid won't stay secure I have to use a freeze plug
how do I reduce the pressure in my oil tank? and hey if you have an horse shoe
tank you may not have this problem I run power factory 60 wt oil

Stock oil bag from 71-E82 had the filler on top with the screw on cap (for lack of better description anyway) and also had the oil dip stick on the left side. Is it the top cap that is not staying secured or is it the dip stick?

The oil cap assembly is pushed down and the top lock basically screws it into place. Never seen one that was broke before.

If it is the side dipstick that is loose then I would suuget that the rubbber around the dipstick is worn beyond use. That occurred with my 84 FLH and I recently replaced it with an extra from my stash.

Some Serious Blow-by issues... or... The Plumbing is Very Wrong...
I suggest you have someone who knows unequivocally... how the bike is Plumbed..
If you plug the Crankcase vent this will surely happen... or other Ooops es

the engine has a vent on the inside of the oil pump - 2 things come to mind you could have the vent going directly into the oil tank - that will do what your explaining seen it before

the vent can be squashed some how it transit from one owner to another also seen that

the engine is severely tired and the blowby even with the lines connected correctly it will also do that -- seen that as well

pans has a oil pump photo of what and locations of all the oil lines and vents - maybe he will post it so you can go visit this issue

have you ever drove this for any length of time as an owner is a good starting point
