Something that pisses me off after tins come back from body shops.
tanks full of **** or even paint. Nows the time to clean all the nipples and threads to bare steel. I also leave around gas cap edges bare steel.... now not a pro here on paint for sure. But i have had to fix painters f ups and it aint fun after someone pays good cake for artwork on top of the paint. Even the crossovers get barrel cleaning brushes.... than sucked out with vac. I leave bare metal on about how much i think hose will cover.
Think a good friend of mine thinks i am restoring this one.
he bought this and dropped it off...... it will be remembered. Guess i dont weld that hole up!
Pretty sure the original bikes had this bracket i made for clutch cable so they didn't dent tank..Does it look rite.
from memory which is kinda of a joke at my age

Very close to NOS, good enough for what you are building and excellent from memory.
While we are welding, ,may I suggest shaving the front fender of those awful rivets. They look so nice smooth especially if you are not mounting any trim or fender tips.

Carry on, great work.
Yep....no on the rivets...i know what happens next. I drop the fender 2 inches..lmao...all that cooool stuff is on the EVO.... PLUS its fender is full of coooool holes...
Not trying to take over your thread.. but you inspired me to bend some metal.. I tried my hand at fabricating this well... I made a 1-in offset sissy bar.. Cut it, heat and bended, welded, sanded and painted it. Trying to get my wife a little more leg room so she rides more...

the cable loop is the incorrect type -- correct one is a wire type for that machine and not a flat pressed tin with holes
Cool. Than this aluimn i made will work....
lol..... i thought there was something there to hold cables on both sides. I have seen the clutch cable dent the tank..
