My 94 softail manual goes from 87-95 and shows your wiring and the wiring you'd have to do to accomplish what you want.
It's very doable, everything you have to cut into is under the seat and dash.
But you won't get the self cancel feature.

Nice and a TSM would work... with some work As this is a 1984... You Know??? Shovelhead... 4-speed??
Not Stock either...
Johnjzjz has the next best answer to include self cancelling... the badlands module specifically for the old Shovel..
But a switch, as Described, will certainly provide 4 ways....cheap, fast, easy....

You said you know how to wire. Your signal module is 2 wires, the TSM is 6. You won't use the g/w wire, this is the self cancel.
You would remove your existing signal module and wire in your lights and switches through the TSM.

I do Not know about your 1984 FX, but on any I have been associated with, Stock, there is No TSM... only a bi-metal Flasher unit...
Now... can one be used??? I guess that is why they make them... to simply have 4-ways???? Bet the switch is cheaper/easier than any TSM...
Re-read, and I get what your saying about installing a TSM... My Question now is Why???
