Default Shovelhead lifters

79 shovel Lifters, hydraulic or solid they are 2 piece. Standard body with piston insert that has pushrod adjustment screw. No springs the piston is flat bottomed and fully inserted, is above oil port. Tried half dozen time to attach a pic but ain't happening.

Think the right side part that inserts in lifter body is the conversion part to solid lifter

Default Tappets

My '79 FLH is running Jim's Powerglide Tappets since 2002. No worries.

Woofman, just saw the pic you added. Someone did the conversion to solid on those, Rather than buying the complete set up they used the original bottom and added the solid upper part. Don't see those around much anymore. It was apopular item in the Custom Chrome and Gary Bang catalogs.

+1 with Panz4ever

If you go back to hydraulics make sure you remove the plugs in the lifter blocks

Thanks. These appear to be S&S tops. Same 2 flat top and screw in rod adjustment but with lock nut. Will have to look an see if the oil port on the case was blocked. Not that I plan on switching to hydraulics but good to know stuff.
