don't trust you got it all just pull it and clean it spotless - the piston was going by that but not the rings - check the breather valve bore - and oil pump inside gears as they are return - if they have damage the oil tank must be made spotless or everything you do will just go bad again in a year
take the front rod in your fingers and see if you can twist it and more then a small amount the rollers are worn out - if this is the case its cheaper to just buy a rod set with the pin and rollers fitted already
Missing chunk is probably in the breather gear in the cam case . Resign your self to to a complete tear down, several something's going on you need to chase down.
Look at the bright side you caught it early enough it didn't eat the whole motor.
I didn't think any of the base nuts were all that tight, but the torque value isn't that high either. Two studs came out when the nuts got near the top of the threads. The one long one shows a lot of coarse threads. One of the front base studs sticks out too. There are a lot of questions to resolve, and I'll start new threads to answer them.
Looks like I'm starting the bike restoration now, which was my plan until I rode it last week. I would love to find an OEM cylinder with the right part number. This one is .030 over, and the piston skirts look good.
OK, thanks, I'll pass on these. I should slow down and wait to see if any HD cylinders come up. I have an ebay search going, found some junk so far. BMI cylinder is only $50 but $24 shipping! Thanks, Joe
