Default Very, very basic battery question

Hello all! New guy to the forum and I have a very basic question. I inherited a beautiful 72 FLH that has been in storage for the last year. I have charged the battery and put in new fuel (it was drained for shipment). Oil is good. My problem is that the battery is a smaller after market battery bought in Europe and it can be installed either way. By that I mean, it is not intuitive- I can install it with the positive terminal on the right or the left depending upon how I put the battery in the battery tray. My uncle had fashioned a high density foam piece to hold the battery in place but I am not sure if it was in front of or behind the battery. Pic of the battery sitting on foam block is attached for perspective.

I will replace the battery eventually but right now I want to go for a start. I want to be sure that I don't install the battery backwards in the bike. Attached is a pic of the battery tray and leads. Which lead is which? I am thinking that the lead on the right side of the photo is the positive lead.
Thanks for your help!
Matt
