How much drag is normal for a FLH front brake caliper?
Reason I ask is my '72 drags enough to heat up the rotor.... which doesn't seem right. I bled the system but can't seem to get the piston to stay in the caliper far enough to eliminate the drag. I had this happen MANY years ago on a new 78 FLH and recall it warped the rotor.

The "retraction" of the caliper piston is accomplished by the "flexing" of the square cut seal on the caliper piston ... If the bore of the caliper is in good shape, replace the square cut seal and it should resolve the problem.

Almost... I know that You know Larry, if the little bleed hole in the MC is Plugged... the Caliper cannot release...

The caliper is pretty beat up and not worth the rebuild. Bleeder valve is broke off too, some mongo used too much torque.

My '72 FLH shows part number 45000-78 for the front caliper.
There are few used banana calipers around but they say in the description '73 and up.
Question: do the '73 up calipers fit the '72?
Are the front and rear '73 up calipers the same? Seems like more rear calipers for sale than fronts. I seem to recall they are identical but that's been many years ago.
Would prefer to retain original and don't want a new chrome plated made in china piece.
I rebuilt the original but the bleeder hole is buggered up and an adaptor isn't going to fix it.

Been wrong before... but... as stock... the Early '72 used a drum Brake on a Mid-Star hub, later switching to exactly the same front Brake as the later FLH till 1980

Yeah I know I have drum rear brake. My question is - do the '73 up disc brake calipers work on the front of my '72? The part numbers don't seem to match.
