Default Outer Primary Bent

I got an OEM outer primary for my FXS and it leaks from the derby cover. Today I took a good look and discovered the outer primary was bent from a previous fall. Can it be straightened, or should I just use more sealer on it? I am also tempted to bend the derby cover to match, it's a steel panhead looking one.

Not wanting to risk cracking the aluminum, I adjusted the derby cover with a 2-lb sledge hammer. I'll give it a good run tomorrow.

That doesn't seem that big of a divot. You might have been able to finesse it with a deadhead mallet on a flat surface, or a Press like John said...… You would have had to take it off either way....

I would warm the aluminum with a torch first

Bending the steel cover worked perfectly, no leaks now. Cast aluminum is very hard to work with if you don't know what you are doing. Funny how the impact of the crash didn't crack anything, just left some scars that I mostly sanded and polished out.
