Oil pump rear chain oiler feeding primary-WTF??
#21
What do you use to block off the feed and return at the oil pump?
Don't mean to hack Renoire123's thread but this is something that I have been looking into already.

Most of what i do is original collectable pieces so we run the original location lines on the right side and ty off under the bike out of the visual and plug the ends -
so someone looking at it will think its all connected OEM correct — its a visual thing and what they don’t know never hurts them - also keeps the morons away from asking stupid questions they wont get anyway

Can I loop the primary feed hose from the oil pump back to the primary return on the oil pump? That way nothing is plugged. Not sure if they are the same diameter but it seems like a quick and simple thing to do, if it will work.

Yeah, I haven't checked the diameter of the hoses, just hoping they were same. I have already shut off the oil to the rear chain, I prefer chain lube, so there is no where else to send it. I will just plug them

while all that answer in the forum are giving what they think is sound advice from experience - one can be overwhelmed and confused
many have PM me and said they take notes so they don’t loose track -
your issue is blended parts from a moron - but it could have been someone who actually knew what he was doing but a very cheap %uck - instead of getting the later outer cover that is way more available then the earlier one - and knowing he could not regulate the volume of oil like the later cover offered did it anyway
i am glad you now know what happened and Y it happened < as that was your original question
installing a correct outer cover that is for an end oiling engine 1973 and on to 1980 - instead of a side oiling engine like you have that was for 1968 to 1972 installed on a end oiling oil pump you have on the engine — would be a smart move- just saying
