I recently bought an FXWG 1982. I bought a bracket to relocate my starter next to my coil with a three position key ignition. Does anyone have any info on how I make a six position Key ignition that was in the centre consul and rewire it into my new three position by my coil? Trying to remove the center consul to put a 3 gallon mustang tank on.
Do you want to keep the AUX. separate?
the new 3-possession switch is
ignition/headlight/AUX - off - AUX only
figure out whats hot, whats AUX, and whats
ignition/ headlight (combine these 2).
The other 2 wires on the old switch are jumpers
So remember this is reverse and looking from the back.
lable the screws counter clockwise
1-4-5-7-10-11
1 is hot
4 is a jumper to 7 (AUX)
5 is a jumper from hot 1
7 is AUX with a jumper from 4
10 is ignition
11 is headlight
theres usually a jumper between 10 and 11
DOT requirements say when running (ignition) the headlight has to be on
