Default Ignition Advance settings

83 FXSB. The bike originally came with an electronic ignition. Converted to points. Now back to electronic ign. Ultima 53-644. The advance timing mark on the flywheel I believe is 35 degrees BTDC. At what rpm did the factory set to reach 35 degrees advance. The Ultima ign module is programmable. I realize that depending on the bike's condition, a lot of things are in play. The factory probably had certain parameters for there new bikes. Just curious.

You set the 644 ignition at the front cylinder on compression stroke at TDC only - using a straw in the front plug hole rotate the engine tilll you see what ever shows up at TDC in the block window - set it in the center turn the ignition 644 counter clockwise all the way - turn the ignition on - now slowly turn clockwise till the light goes off - hold and tighten the screws - you done no need to do anything else

do not play captain computer re programmer - you will eff it up and wont get back to the factory setting - that actually work well in the 500 we have installed

Thks, I was able to get the settings. I realize that the paperwork for the module has the ign advance curves for the different dip sw settings. The default setting for the dead rev is 3. I had to program the advance curve for my bike (curve 1 is default) and set the dead rev to 0 so I can kick it. I can kick start it now. Before, I was carbon fouling my plugs, They are starting to look a whole lot better. Super E. .0295 on the intermediate & .072 on the mains. 140 psi on both cylinders.
