Any adjustment will likely need to start with this....appears to be a "modified" diaphragm clutch. Do you know who made/makes this?

The standard diaphragm clutch is similar to this (pic from an 88 FLSTC model)

There is a specific adjustment procedure for the diaphragm assembly itself but I am unsure how it applies to the type you have installed. Outside of that the hadnshift/footclutch adjustment is standard. I'll try and get some pis and infor on that today.

Some pics and info on how to adjust the shiftlinkage would be great! In the meanwhile I've added some oil to the primary, but didn't ride it yet.

No idea what make the clutch is, or who/how it was modified...I also haven't managed to get the locknut loosened to adjust is as it's not an allenkeyhead but flatblade and the screwdriver keeps jumping out when I try to crack the nut loose...

...added oil to the primary...Ordinarily 76 models had a line running off the oil pump to lubricate the primary chain. After doing so it was sucked back into the oil tank. Do you know if the prior owner blocked off the inner primary to isolate it it? If the primary was not isolated you will actually add more oil than needed to your system and that extra oil is going to need to go somewhere, either out the filler spout or atop the spout that allows access to the the oil filter located in your tank. Just an FYI.

The allenhead was not used until the EVO came about I believe.. The nut can be a bit of a buggar to loosen. The nut takes a 9/16 end. Not sure what type of wrench you are using but something like a 75 degree box wrench works best for me along with a long flat blade screwdriver that fill the slot completely. And maybe try something like PB Blaster to help. May have been a bit since it was last adjusted.

Still working on the info for you.

Quick update. Was looking on line and the closest I can figure on the clutch packet is that it is something along the lines of a Sifton clutch set up made for a Shovel. This is what the product looks similar to. (Photo borrowed from Deniis Kirk website.)

Thank you so far! Well I rode it to work this morning, and so fsr no oil came spilling out anywhere!

Took some pics as well, and though I'm sure it is not all correct, I'm prettyg happy with it! Sadly it's missing a diamond from the seat, and I prefer the ribbed battery cover, but other than that I really like it!

No power though, it's fitted with a CV carb and electronic ignition, otherwise it's totally stock.

I'm thinking of changing the gearing to have a little less revs on the motorway.

Is there a cam that yields some more bottom end power with setup or leave well alone?

It's going to serve as my daily by the way, so I need it to function properly and be fairly reliable. I think the CV carb and electronic ignitions are a good step in that direction, as is the leverstarter.

Tips towards reliabillity always welcome!

Nice bike!
Can't really help you with a shovelhead, but I commend you for keeping this as your daily rider!
Good luck in sorting the bike out so it's PERFECT for you.

I'm really quite pleased with it! Some cosmetic things to do, like get a ribbed battery cover instead of this smooth one, and will be fitting a sheepskin seat because it's very comfortable, other than that I just want it mechanically sound I ride the thing!
