Right, but that does require the cable get cut because the linkage on the B doesn’t take a barrel on the end of it. This, I’m assuming, is why my cable is a mess as it is.
I’m leaning this direction, but thought perhaps there was some different insight here.
little secret when doing the new cable with no barrel? Install and measure the new exposed cable length you need then solder the section before snipping it. Makes installation much easier. Ran the B for years doing this.
Also the B is prone to wear on the butterfly shaft and carb body, idle not dropping back or getting irregular means she could be sucking air around the shaft, little shot of brake clean at that spot will tell you quick.

I got my 1980 FLH running and running pretty well, but it has a Super B carb on it. Whoever put it on mangled the stock throttle cable. So, I'll need a throttle cable. but this has the stock HD cable on it not the dual cable setup that it would appear a Super B ought to have. I do see they sell single cable conversion kits.
Is this what we do? Is my decision to go with that S&S because it was already on there and seemed the popular choice going to cost me another hundred bucks in throttle cables?
A single cable on the "B" carb will work fine if you keep the cable well lubed. But you may feel a bit safer if you hooked up a secondary return spring to the linkage like I did on my Shovelhead. That way you won't have to worry about the throttle not closing when you want it to. Unfortunately I don't have a picture to show you.

Your soldering idea does seem like a good idea. Thank you. Will think on it.

The Original Bendix Cable end from H-D, had a brass sleeve, (tube) on the cable...protecting the Cable at the Barrel...
Never encountered a Situation where a Bendix Cable would Not work on My "B"....
