BDL or Primo, keeping the button too it gets pricey for the whole kits. Kick only a lot cheaper.

Either one ….I’m redoing a 79 and the inner and outer primary cases are bad so I figured I’d do an open primary

Checked all mine are closed primary for the button start, BDL 8mm replaces everything in the primary ran that about a month before I swapped it clutched rattled to much for me. The rest are for 5 speeds.

Finding a decent open setup used is going to be iffy good luck in the hunt.

You just couldn’t take the noise anymore? That was my concern with going with open… I’d probably be smarter getting both new cases and keeping it closed. Also it’ll save me a ton of money

Stock clutch done right is fine, it's what I run with my 11mm setup now. The total replacement with all their hardware was loud even in a closed primary with vented covers, it was bad. Good clutch but....

And yeah a complete open with button start is crowding 2 grand if you can find one.

I run this, with a rear belt I did a conversion on, modded heavily.

May I ask the source for the pressure plate and if it is compatible with a stock clutch?

8mm, Fully Enclosed. Been on our '74 forever...E start unaffected, Not nearly as Noisy if ya close it up, And Only Folks On the Internet have Problems with Enclosed...
BTW, a RammJett retainer works miracles on Shovel Clutch...That Miserable late '84+ clutch???? No Thanks

For a low budget bullet proof shovel clutch, stock plates or Alto Reds, a Ramjett retainer and an aluminium pressure plate. Setup and adjusted properly this takes all the headaches out of the shovel clutch and finding neutral games.

Mine is a Sifton diagram pressure plate and later spring plate instead of the 10 springs. They are still around if you search it but the hub that comes with kit is junk the studs are real soft. Use the stock one if the studs are in decent shape. Works pretty well but I'm running a 7 plate Kevlar clutch also.

This place has everything I mentioned for both ways at decent prices.
