Eric Iam fascinated with your research and knowledge of all thes forging and die numbers etc. Please keep up this invsluable work.Thankyou!!!
Thanks for the kind words. My research into certain areas goes back a fair way and one of the reasons I started was because of confusion about the intro of frame DCs. Two books Id paid full price for said those DCs began with 52 models but of course that was wrong and even after I contacted one of the authors in 2009 the matter remained unresolved so I kept looking into it myself. And that also led to researching other forms of ID for not only frames but for Big Twin round-tube swingarms as well.
A similar thing had happened regarding aluminium DCs. The owner of a Big Twin trans case with L 6 correctly explained it on another forum in 2008 but a certain contributor to one of the above-mentioned books disagreed. I asked him why he disagreed and he replied with an alleged 'update' which contradicted what he'd already said and other info in his so-called update only confused things even further. Great. Some info in the book remained a problem, I couldn't believe any of the alleged update and I didnt get much further on the forum so I began researching DCs and other identifying features for not only aluminium parts but also for some cast-iron pieces.
Eric
And today your the only guy who when types something thats it / no other info or explanation is necessary
thank you as well Eric john zanetti
And generous with his time to walk someone through the identification process as you are John with all things technical. You both are huge assets to this forum.
