Nice find
they are out there
just gotta be patient and it's good that it won't be hacked up
Yeah been looking on and off for just about 2 years now. Came close to getting a really really nice EVO but plans did not work out. Looked closely at a couple of mid 70s but did not like the mods and the owners no longer had the original parts. Found a couple of late 70s that were all stock but they just did not speak to me the way this one did. Nice thing is that there isn't a whole lot of difference between this and my 65.
Hey Panz,
How did you find this bike? (looks great)
I have been busily looking for a 49' - 52'
Trying FB, Ebay and Cycle Trader and not having much luck.
Had a good looking 50' over the weekend and the seller pulled it 8 days before bidding was over.
I was already packing my bags for the trip to pick it up.

Have several FB groups that I subscribe to. Just happened to pop up on one of them. My 49 EL was mostly a basket case that I found in West Virginia many, many moons ago. Spend over a decade getting it together with as much OEM parts as I could afford. Since I took the pic, I found the correct backing plate and air cleaner cover.

Whatever you say slick. You find one in another OEM '67 color available, buy it and post up please . I happen to like the Sparkling Burgundy color.
Couple more pics...

Very nice original example. That's the 1st post-'66 I've ever seen with the rectangular coil cover.
Sorry dude as I stared too long @ these picts this morning. I would probably be getting a divorce if I came across that bike for sale.
My 1st Harley was a 67flh and that is to this day part of most of my passwords.
Sad thing now is, I helped my father (1977, I was in 4th grade) chop it down to nothing and rake the frame out for a 12 over front end as he destroyed so many from in the day making choppers. He gave it to me a few years later when I got to high school and I instantly slammed it to a hardtail frame.
Will now be looking for the destroying pictures as I have seen a few.... sad
And I have a have a 62, 67, 68, 70, 75 that started this way but all sadly enough on hardtails other than the 75 and it is stripped as well. Also have a 78 but it is a Superglide.
This is the 75 and 1st Harley I rode alone @ 12 years old. And then same bike ruined by myself in probably 93 🤦♂️😪 Dad and his nephews And this is exactly how she sits today and was my daily rider for years. That is the original front fender on the rear and original front end as well as anything else that could be used. Did add 80" flywheels and probably pumped to 80hp. Just young and dumb.
Bayou FLHR-M8-128" that is a great pic of everyone on the bike, a classic there. And you did not do anything other than what many of us did back then...take a stock scoot, take it all apart and chop it...tho my numbers for that were a bit fewer.
Easy there Panzy, don't let that get your panties in a bunch. lol
Not a chance ace. Glad you find it funny.
And now that it seems I am actually coming into the new age, anyone got advice on the Tillitson carb that comes with this bike. Anyone running one? Looks like it was used a short time only. Found some info in the HD Service bulletins from late 66 and some more (and better detailed info...like 20 pages worth) in one of Donny Petersons book on Shovelheads. Doesn't read as tho they were very well liked?
