Trying to put a solo seat on my 78 FXE, I ordered a seat T kit from DK, it lists the post as being 1.080" diameter, I received one that is 1.180" obviously it wont fit in the frame tube (back in 80's this bike had this set-up). My question is does anyone know if the 1.080" correct for the frame?
DK isn't being much help.
TIA

As Racepres said, there is a bronze busing in the seat frame tube. So the hole in the bushing is slightly smaller that the tube.
Pictured is from my 1976 FLH frame which came with the buddy set setup, and if you look closely you can see a little of the edge of the bushing. I believe all 4 speed frames from that era came with the bushing installed from the factory (my 1976 FXE, same frame, has the bushing) even if didn't use a seat that required a seat post. That's not to say the bushing wasn't removed at some point in it's life.
I didn't mic the hole so the measurent isn't exact, but should be close enough for a seat post clearance. Looks to me like the bushing measurement is 1.1875.
