I found a set of tank emblems on Fleabay for my '66 shovel head 3 gal. tanks. they are real with the fox engraving on the back.
My question is have you ever seen the upper and lower triangles painted black?? Every pic I see they are white. These seem to be original black not a repaint.
I've never seen them black before but also, they're not "white". I think the color that they came with from the factory is called Birch White and they match the saddlebags.

Nice bikes. Here's a pic of my '66. Emblems are birch white also. I looked at all my literature and every pic from '66 through 71 shows them white. Just wondering why these were black.
