I just did a alternator conversion on my 1967 shovelhead and can't get the charge light in the dash hooked up to work. Can anybody give me a wiring diagram how to get it to work? thanks.
Center of the bulb is plus 12 volts when the key is on as well as the light are on - the side ground goes to the A terminal on the generator
what happens is the key on not running the generator is grounding the bulb - once it starts the ground is taken away and the light goes out - this is why when its not charging it returns to ground and the light comes on
the oil light is different - the same 12 volts in the center — but the side ground on the bulb holder goes to the oil pressure switch and when its not running the bulb is grounded when it runs with pressure the bulb looses the ground and goes off
check to see in both switch locations ignition on //// and lights on and ignition on - the bulb has 12 volts and is lit - in off no power to the 2 bulbs

Yes I know how it works with a generator, but I put the alternator conversion kit on it and there were no instructions how to hook the wire that comes from the dash panel.
