Default Fat bobs a little off

Hey guys any advice on getting this Frankenstein tank to sit right? It's the classic aftermarket 5 bob tanks 80s era and a newer 5 light dash. Frame is 76 fxe. It's what came on the bike but there's a gap at the back of the dash where it meets the tank that bugs me. Any suggestions besides...hunt for oem tanks...seal them...have them painted...find oem dash...have it chromed. It's what I've got and and bank account says work it out!
Thanks.

Common with repop tanks & aftermarket bling. Start with finding another gap cover, Either shorter or the full length up under the dash. Thats what holding it up.

Elongate the holes in the front upper and lower mounting tabs. You could enlarge the rear tab holes on the frame too.

My dash mount plate on my wide glide has shims under it where it bolts onto the forging. If you have shims you can remove them to lower it down.

I know the tank bib is part of it. I never knew they make a full length. That's not a bad idea. Thanks. I have shims under it but if I remove the shims the switch sits way high. I'll play with it and look around.

looks like someone tried that. It's was a B#%@#^ to mount those tank flush. The tabs were all crazy. Had to shim the crap out of it to get the front to line up with the rear. If the welds ever pop i may just grind them off and weld up some new ones differently.

You had to be creative ( and patient ) to get the re-pops to fit ... As mentioned the aftermarket trim was no walk in the part either ... Perseverance pays

The shims lower the switch to since its screwed to the plate you're lowering.
