Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a quality bearing kit available for the 5 speed tranny in my '82 FLT? Seems like there's not much available for it with a quick search. My final drive bearing is toast and I'd like to do them all while I have it apart. Are there any must change items to replace while I'm in there?
Thanks

I use places like Detroit Ball Bearing and the Part Numbers stamped right on the bearings.. Good as one can do I'm afraid..
Seems like Detroit bearing is out of business, but I do see some of their bearings on ebay. Does Johnjz have a website or contact or do I just send him a pm here on the forum? I just need the parts, I can handle the install. I was just hoping to get them all from one quality source if I can. I'm most concerned with not installing crap parts from the country south of Mongolia. I think I'd rather have my existing bearing ***** and races rechromed. Lol
I bought a rebuild kit for my 82 FXR, it had everything I needed. Jims Trans Rebuild Kit #1019 cost about $250 in 2022
I think that's exactly what I need. Thanks! Looks like Dennis Kirk has it available. They were one of the first places I checked and didn't come up with anything until I put that part # in. Thanks!
I was unaware of them. I don't think they had those when I was doing a few years ago.
That kit didn't come up when I searched and Jim's website is crap. It just has a pdf copy of their print catalog that makes it impossible to find anything.
