Default su carb

I just rebuilt a 76 shovel,it has a Su carb and I can't get to do any thing but idle with the throttle wide open.I've tried to adjust with no luck. The bike will start on the 2nd kick just about every time,it just won't take the gas. Any advice ??

Sounds like the piston in the carb isn't sliding. Are you sure your throttle cable is connected properly to the carb?

Yeah, you gotta keep the slide lubed, you may even need to remove the dome and clean it. If you need instructions I have mine around here somewhere. Shoot me a pm with your e-mail. Once you get the right spring and needle combo they are sweet carbs.

Well, looks like I've got bigger problems than the car. The piston was stuck and I found some instructions on how to tune it but now I have no compression in #2 and oil comming out of the hurl tube and #2 exhaust,WTF I guess ill have to go back in it but don't really know what I'm looking for. Thanks for the advise and keep it comming.
