Sorry man, I just don't understand what you mean, "blew the gasket between the bottom head and the top exhaust manifold head." Do you mean the head gasket failed? Please explain a little more. Perhaps you can describe it better when you get the manual since it has exploded views with identification of the parts.
You should be able to get a manual at a dealer (may have to order it), maybe pick one up on eBay or from an aftermarket company online.

If your waiting to score a good deal on Ebay on a manual You can always try the local lbrary for a service manual.
I would say that it is free, BUT IT"S NOT.
You've been paying for your local libary for YEARS.

by the picture that would be the head gasket, the gasket on top the head is the rocker box gasket and the gasket at the bottom of the cylinder is called the base gasket

It may be time to replace the gasket and check the surfaces and use a good "quality gasket" when going back together.

Thanks gents, so yeah i got a manual and started reading lol..I've worked on many car and truck engines but not bikes till now..Yes I'm glad I got an old girl to tinker on and proud to keep the torch lite. I have an ace 20yr shovelhead machanic guiding me so all should be well,,while I'm in there I'll change both gaskets, useing a proper 9:5/1 copper ringed gasket to deal with the higher compression plus check for any warping, etc..Any added advice would be great,,ride safe!!!!!!
