I bought some shocks for my '66 FLH from Debrix.com, I also bought a full set of new mounting hardware from them. The original shocks have two rubber bushings for each eye. The shocks I bought actually have a "built-in" rubber fitting so there is no room for the bushings that came with the hardware....I would be fine with that, except the mounting bolts DONT FIT into the built in fittings! Anyone have any experience with this? Did they send me the wrong shocks?
this is the item I bought (which I believe is just the V-Twin aftermarket set)...
Item Title: Full Covered Shocks Set for 1958-1972 Harley FL-FLH

here's a pic to better describe what the hell I'm talking about...
I have had to add bushings or remove them, and go to the hardware to buy the ones that fit. I have bought shocks that came with extra bushings. (?multifit) Not sure its BTB but... If you knock that bushing out, thats in the new shock, will your studs fit? If that works I'd run with that. JM2c
the old studs have the same diameter as the new studs. Neither the old or the new studs fit in that new hole. The rubber fittings have a metal center and are really in there good. If I got them out, there's no going back... Should I just dig them out then?
Is that spacer in the new shock the same size as the stud your putting in there? If it is, knock that bitch out of there and put them shocks on. If the hole in the rubber without that spacer is to big, you may have to go to the hardware, get one of them spacers to fit your stud and drill the rubber to fit it. Use a vice to replace the spacers, if needed. JM2c

yeah it sure is (the same size). I may give that a try.
hey, thanks John. Yeah, it looks like from the pics that your shock eyes are the same as mine. There are no built in inserts/sleeves. The hardware and rubber are separate hardware, which makes sense. The company emailed me a UPS shipping label so I just sent them back and they say they are going to send me replacement shocks, so we'll see what they send me.
