Help my 82 fxe broke today
The Shovel broke down on the way to Earls today. Left me stranded on Micco rd till I could get a friend out with a trailer. I think it is terminal going down the road at about 45 mph heard a loud bang then the motor sounded like it was running under water then quit. Wont restart if it where a car I would say that it jumped time from the sounds it makes when trying to restart. When cranking over with the plugs in it there is popping out of the carb and the exhaust sounds like an outboard running in the water. I will have to start taking it apart this weekend and find out what broke. Dennis

Depending on the work done to the motor the compression could range from 90 to 150. The front and rear should be within 5 or 10 pounds of each other. From what you describe it don't sound good. Let us know what you find.
