Hello;
I have a 1973 fx shovelhead.
I restored the bike and it has about 5000 miles on it and it ran great.
A friend of mine done my lower end,to make a long story short the oil pump gear was installed backwards and the pinion shaft broke flush with the gear.
My question is do i have to install a new main bearing? or can i put a new pinion shaft in,true the flywheels and install them back in the cases.
install new piston rings,and gaskets.
Everthing else in the bike is new.
I guess what i'm asking is what is the easiest and cheapest way to get my bike back on the road.
THANKS KEN
should be checked,if the race hasnt been line honed in a while,i`de hone them and go with O.S. rollers while youve got it apart,cant get the peice out of the shaft?

Id have to agree,no need to half a#$ it while its apart,just do it right the first time and be done with it.
Why not replace it now while it is apart remember that there are two ways to do anything, Complete or InComplete. Which one makes you feel comfortable?
