What is the best way to replace the dust shield and shifter lever? The easiest way looks like to remove the ratchet top assembly, I also dont no a dang thang about these bikes, so I dont know what is under there and if or how the parts aligns back up.

Are we talking about the cover on the ratchet lid not the lid itself but the cover that goes over the shift mechanism where the shift rod attaches to ?

I've always pulled the Inner and outer Primaries off . I don't think you can wiggle it out without pulling the whole trans out and to do that you have to remove the Primaries!

sqdealgeorge; the cover that goes over the shift mechanism where the shift rod attaches to. The pin wore out the shift arm and is very sloppy.

flh80; that is what I was thinking, it looks like it could'nt be wiggled out.

Looks like I have a job ahead of me then.
