The neck and backbone MAY have started out as original, but beyond that it is definitely questionable. It is a straight leg frame it is NOT OEM by any means.
What motor it could take is dependent on a lot of measurement between the top and bottom,,,,definitely custom.
I have owned it for years.
I thought I was finishing a hard-tail weld-on onto a sporty frame when I started the project.
I have ridden it and never looked at others for comparison....always just assumed.
Recently a friend suggested that is might be an FL that had a sporty motor welded in.
I started looking at old XL frames and realized that is not what I had.
Google search turned up a couple of images that I could see where the possibilty was there.
Your opinion seems to re-enforce this.
It is the frame on my signature bike picture.
thanks

What the hell is that? I see a big twin front mount and a sporty rear mount. On the bottom left, I see a Sporty kickstand mount, and on the lower right I see a Sporty footpeg mount. Theres no telling what someone was thinking on that one. Mailbox maybe?

An early twincam unit hybrid maybe ? The real early adapters looked something like that . or somebody was looking to stuff an oddball limey in there , creative whatever they had planned .
