well i got the clutch hub bolt off and now ia m trying to get the hub off. Yet i broke two studs of the hub using the puller what on earth do i do now to get it off so i can get the rest of the primary casing off?
Using a puller that will grab around whole drum is recommended. The studs on basket are too weak for pulling. They will bend easy and then your clutch will hang up.Get a puller w/long reach
I have had pretty good luck getting the hub off using a 3 jaw puller when the factory puller won't work. Put the jaws behind the hub, run the puller bolt in until it has a small amount of tension on it. Hit the puller bolt with a brass hammer. The shock should release the hub from the tapered shaft. If you have some "breakfree" penetrant, spray some back there on the mainshaft and let it sit for a couple of hours before you try the puller. 3 jaw pullers will bend the plate pretty easy, so do not put a lot of tension on the puller bolt. Good luck with it.
pittguy, I have always used the puller that attaches over the studs and have never bent or had them come loose on me. Heck, the whole thing is only held in place on the tapered shaft by a key. Would be curious to know how long the clutch hub had been on since the last maintenance. Almost seems as if something more is going on.
antoniov1 you mentioned you got the clutch hub nut off. There should have been a lockwasher behind it. Have you checked to make there was/wasnt one. Think if there was maybe it somehow got jammed up and is preventing the clutch hub from coming off
