thanks Jim,you are absolutely right,singin its own song,kinda neat when i pull in and let out clutch,,,pretty sure this whistle is from the belt now,gonna order a new one just in case and re align,shim if i have to.

Karata had several belt systems with different tooth counts and belt lengths for each combo , you sure you have all the right matching stuff ? 2 teeth can mean 1" or more play easy .

You do need to vent the primary . Just put a few washers under the inspection & derby cove to space them out about 3/16" or so it'll breathe fine if you don't want to spend $$$$ of louvered covers .

so,as it turns out ,I have a 14mm belt and Karata says I have the wrong belt ,says I need a 13.8, and they are ou tof stock,,,does this make sense?

Yep that was a Karata only belt system too nothing else will change over to it , sorry and it will eat itself pretty quick using the 14 . Do a google and Amazon search some parts house may have one . I'll also suggest you grab 2 if you can get them .

j&p cycles has a bdl with the right measurements,,think it will work? And what is the significance of the measurements?

Well,I finally got the 13.8m belt,had fun installing that one,,pretty easy,,just need 3 hands,lol,,but it was right on qeue for alignment,i fired it up,and found it was the allen heads holding ring gear onto basket that were rubbing on belt ,so had to take the ring gear off,,now its kick only,,,,what fun,almost broke my freakin ankle,,got er down pat now though,,when it s cold i just turn on the gas,choke,prime 3 times,kicks over 1st kick.

How bad where they rubbing ? If I remember right the bolts went through the hub into the ring gear , yours this way or reversed ? I've modded a couple by counter sinking the heads a bit to clear on one system and the other just took a grinder and faced of the extra bolt sticking so it wouldn't rub . All kinda ways to get there man , why they call it customizing .
