Where do I start?
She is a bit dusty, but shes all there. I am getting anxious,I cant wait to start working on it!
So basically I want to keep it how it is, just get it healthy again. I have no idea how many miles are on it, no odomiter. My biggest worry is the bottom end needing to be rebuilt. I guess the reason for my post is to see if the is any good info or resources anyone can recommend. I don't have much money or experience with Harley's. I plan on doing as much of the rebuild as reasonably possible.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks man, I have gotten a simular responce/warning about that forum as well. I have not posted on it but have browsed a little.
I know I might not get much respect nor do I expect it. I am new to Shovelheads, but I have been on two wheels my whole life. I do not ride with a club or will I ever wear a patch. I dont like drama or people who think they are above you due to reputaion or "power". I really aprreciate the responce and help I have recived from this site and I am sure I will have a TON of stupid questions!
The stock location of the ignition switch: Pull it out and wrap it in electrical tape. They were notorious for shorting out against the oil tank. That coil cover will give you problems; if you like it and want to keep it, cover the posts on the coil. I see that the solinoid is missing the rubber boot. The chrome aftermarket covers will give you problems.
I suspect we will probably be hearing from you about electric starter problems.
Replace the wheel bearings and swingarm bearings. This is a critical area that a lot of people miss, and wonder why the scoot rides like ****.
Check the motor mount and tranny mount bolts.
In the shop manual, it has a section on critical fasteners to check. Follow it.
When you finally get to the point of starting it, look in the gas tank. Is it rusty? if so, get new tanks. I see it has a Pingel petcock. Thats good. It will give you all of the fuel you need. Drain, flush and refill the oil tank.
Take your time and do a good job. Don't get that "I have to get in the wind today" attitude. Don't skimp on safety parts or the motor/trans rebuild.

Twizted, you mentioned that you do a lot of work yourself. Would you be abel to give me an idea of what a hone and head job would run me. I think (hope) I can handle the rest on my own.
Any advice on a good shop or cost of top end work would be greatly appreciated.
