Later ill look in my tractor manuals and the test procedure should be the same. We are still runnin a few generators around here.

Yes its got the little black box on the left side ,behiund the batt.It has 2 sets of points,iwill polerize it to night,the electrical system has been disconected.If the reg is craped out what would you sugges?,i can get the old auto stye here,they still have them availible.Thanks

Those work...but if you can, get a newer solid state one for it. Lasts longer.

Here locally I have a guy who rebuilds alt/gen's for cheep. Call a local Napa auto parts and ask them if someone locally rebuilds them. Or a hot rod restoration shop.

Do i have to change my wiring if i go with a solid state one ?

polarization is bat to armature. it does charge some from what I understand. try brushes first. that was usually the first to go south.

Not if you buy the right one for it.

Thanks guys,i changed the reg,got one off a VW bug ,there the same,lots still running here in cenrol america.Points where pitted badly on my old one. Thanks for all your coments. Harbri
